Life After Exams, What Now?

Image
Personally, I like to try and forget college and A levels. Which works most of time, unless I meet up with an old friend or randomly remember something with my boyfriend...or A level results day comes around. Every year social media is FLOODED with results day and for someone who was pretty devastated with their results, it sucks to be reminded. I felt awful about my results, they were not what I expected at all. I'm not great with exams, I get super super nervous and revise a crazy amount until my mental health has all but deteriorated. It seems that no matter how hard I revise I can't get the grades I think I deserve, the system just isn't made for people like me. It made me feel so bad about myself for ages, but actually, when I step back and look at it, most of my friends were very upset about their results too. Lots of them had no idea where their life would take them and were rushed into decisions of clearing or deciding Uni just wasn't going to be for th...

What to Expect...#2

Image
Well that's that. It's almost a year since we went on our 3 month SE Asia trip and I've finally finished writing about it *pats self on back*. As big of a weight to have been lifted off my shoulders finishing is, I must now answer the ultimate question: WHAT TO DO NEXT Before I get into that though, I need to just take a moment to be soppy (do excuse me, if you don't like mush please scroll down). It's unbelievable to me that I am actually asking myself what to do next on my blog. I was so embarrassed to start blogging and when I wrote my first post, I thought there were only two ways things could go: 1) Nobody ever reading it apart from myself and becoming so embarrassed I would need to delete all traces of it ever being on the internet 2) Giving up too soon, forgetting about it and then stumbling across it again one day in the future and becoming so embarrassed I would need to delete all traces of it ever being on the internet Never did I imagine I would a...

New Year, New Blogger?!?!

Image
What's that sorry? You forgot I existed?...well I guess I can't really blame you there Hey everyone, yes I know it's been a while but what can I say? I am a busy girl BUT this year mama is gonna turn it around! That's right, a post a week people. I love this little blog and I would love to see it grow this year. I've got some big things planned and I can't wait to get started. Before we get into what's to come this year this year though, we've got to take a look back at 2017. I'm just going to come out and say it, 2017 may be the best year of my life. I had the chance to do so many amazing things and have so many incredible experiences that I may not ever have again and I am so so grateful for them. Not to mention being extremely proud of myself for working hard and allowing a lot of them to happen. If you've been reading my blog, or follow any of my social media at all, then it's obvious to you that this year I took a gap year and we...

The Start of Something New: University

I just wanted to write a little life update as it's been a while since I have posted or been very interactive at all. So here goes. I moved into University 3 days ago and at the start I was extremely excited. My family dropped me off and helped me with my room before we headed out to do a food shop. I really loved how they stayed for so long and helped me out. None of my flat mates were around at that time, but I met most of them that evening and the next morning. I was feeling great the first day, all ready to start university life... and then I just wasn't. For some reason, the second night got to me, like really got to me. I think the fact that my boyfriend moved into his uni that day really just confirmed everything in my mind. That this is it, this is where we are going to be now for the next 3 years, this is what we are going to do and that freaked me out. My family are doing up our house while I am here, which means when I visit back home, my room won't be my ...

Ho Chi Minh City

Image
We spent 3 days in Ho Chi Minh before travelling into Cambodia, and I thought it was one of the coolest cities we visited on our trip. Ho Chi Minh was formerly known as Saigon, but some people still use this name, just to clear up any confusion. It's the biggest city in Vietnam and I found it so interesting to see the integration of old and modern architecture. The back of the Cathedral also faces outwards onto a huge road, I just really loved the way it looks in the middle of the rest of the city. Not my photo, but I wanted to show you all how it looks in comparison to the rest of the city Next to the Cathedral is the Saigon Central Post Office. Even if you don't have anything you need to post, this is a beautiful building to have a look around in, there are even small shops selling cute souvenirs inside .  We stayed in a place called Galaxy Hotel & Capsule and I absolutely loved it. The location was really good, right by the streets full o...

Memoirs of a Pincushion: A Jab Story

Image
Forewarning: This post is not about a real pincushion, it is actually about my pincushion alter ego I have recently discovered. Yesterday was my first meeting with my local travel doctor. She was very helpful and cleared up anything I was unsure about in regards to which jabs I should be worrying about and whether or not Malaria medication is necessary for the areas I am visiting (it's not). Her relief I had done some of my own research was clear as she explained not many do before coming to her, however, she was concerned with how soon I leave (26 days omg) and what little time we had remaining to fit in appointments. It should be noted here: NOT ALL JABS ARE ON THE NHS! I was aware of this, however I didn't know I wouldn't be abled to get Rabies and Japanese Encephalitis vaccinations at my local Doctor's surgery. This means I shall have to try make more appointments at another travel clinic not so near to me for 5 more jabs, trying to fit them all in before I...

What To Expect...

I'm a lazy, 18 year old girl forced into adulting by her decision to take a gap year. A decision heavily lead by the fact that I am incapable of decision making and I couldn't decide what to study at Uni. (wow that was a lot of decisions) It is also a great excuse to travel, which is exactly what I'm doing. On May 1st, myself and one lucky* travel companion are jetting off on a 3 month SE Asia trip. I thought this could act as one big travel diary for me to look back on and anyone else if it takes interest, but I suppose mostly talking to myself (no change there then). The most likely scenario is future me looks back on this and heavily cringes, as I do with most things past me has done. * a term used loosely, as they will be dealing with the immense emotional roller coaster that is me everyday. Ha. Last year I had applied to University with the plan to study Pyschology, however after recieving my A level results, that flame of passion seemed to have fizzled out. I...
